Background

Grand Rapids native. Army veteran. Full-time agent.

Nathan Strodtbeck, REALTOR®

Nathan grew up in West Michigan and knows the area the way you only can when it raised you. After a detour through the Army, he came home to Grand Rapids in 2025 and moved into real estate full-time. The short version of why: he wanted work where the outcome actually matters to the person in front of him, and where being prepared and honest is a competitive advantage.

He served in the Army from 2020 to 2025, stationed at Fort Hood in Texas with deployments to Poland and Kuwait. The day-to-day was technical work: long hours, tight deadlines, and a low tolerance for sloppy handoffs. What carried over into real estate is the same thing that carried his units: checking the details twice, writing things down, and not letting a problem sit just because it's uncomfortable to bring up.

Coming back to Grand Rapids in 2025 was deliberate. The city is growing, the surrounding neighborhoods each have their own character, and the market rewards clients who take the time to understand what they're buying. Nathan works with first-time buyers learning the process, clients using a VA loan who need a lender and agent who actually know the program, and investors running the numbers on long-term rentals, short-term rentals, and small multifamily.

Outside of work, he's usually somewhere in West Michigan: on trails, near water, or at a coffee shop in one of the neighborhoods he works in.

Why I focus on...

First-time buyers, VA clients, and investors.

Nathan works with a wide range of clients, but he puts extra time into three groups that tend to get underserved: first-time buyers, people using a VA loan, and investors building rental portfolios. First-time buyers because the process is confusing and the stakes are high, and having someone explain it plainly the first time through is worth a lot. VA clients because the program has real quirks, residual income, funding fee waivers, BAH income, and working with an agent who doesn't know them can cost you. Investors because the numbers either work or they don't, and a good agent should be running the same math you are, not selling you on a story.
